A LITTLE ABOUT ME...

NARDEEP KHURMI

Nardeep is an acclaimed writer, director, and actor hailing from the suburbs of Philly by way of Switzerland and England. You can usually catch him on some mountain likely out of breath. Or pigging out on some delicious street food. He studied at NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, FAMU International in Prague, Czech Republic, Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB), and recently completed a 5 year training with teacher Stephen Book.

As he has grown as an artist, Nardeep has taken ownership of his voice and loves to spotlight underrepresented communities in his work. He splits his time between working on thought-provoking, moving, socially relevant narratives and absurdist comedy pieces

He is currently developing a feature film about a trans-American road trip exploring a surrogate father-daughter relationship against the backdrop of America's current border and immigration crisis.

He recently completed work on a comedic short entitled Block. About writer’s block. He is also in post-production for two new short films -  one about a man who makes a surprising connection with a robo-spam caller from India, and a short documentary about the Merali Foundation, a scholarship that affords women the chance to pursue higher S.T.E.M. educations.

Nardeep's most recent short film Pagg, about a Sikh-American's response to a hate crime on the 4th of July, (which he wrote, produced, directed, and starred in) has screened at over 30 film festivals internationally, including 4 Academy Award Qualifying Festivals. Pagg has netted a slew of honors, including the prestigious Grand Jury Prize at the March on Washington Film Festival, Best Short at the South Asian International Film Festival of America, the Audience Choice Award at the First Glance Film Festival, was voted one of the Top 10 Best Shorts at Cinequest, and won Best Actor at the Queen Palm International Film Festival. His short film Monogamish, which explores sexual fluidity in a non-monogamous relationship, has screened at over 20 festivals worldwide and has netted itself many awards, including Best Actor and Best Supporting Actress awards. He also directed, shot, and produced a Youtube Vlog style adaptation of the novel "Flowers for Algernon" which has netted over 250,000 views as well as the web series The Achiever which is currently streaming on YouTube and Amazon.

In addition to writing and directing, Nardeep is an accomplished actor. His recent credits include 911, SWAT, The Odd Couple, and recurring roles on Jane the Virgin and The Bold and the Beautiful. He is currently recurring on Legendary Entertainment and the Nerdist's show Orbital Redux, a revolutionary Sci-Fi show filmed and aired live, and is a heavy recurring on the Disney animated show Mira, Royal Detective, where he voices more than 10 characters. He is also ingrained in the theater community in Los Angeles and has appeared on stage with a number of theater companies including East West Players, Rogue Machine, Coeurage Theater Company, and Playwrights’ Arena.
